Breath by Breath Counselling

I aim to offer a space where all parts of you are welcome — including the parts that feel tired, uncertain, or hard to understand. Therapy with me is not about fixing or pushing through, but about making sense, building safety, and gently reconnecting with your own inner resources over time.

About Me

I am an integrative counsellor with a strong relational focus, offering a calm, compassionate space for people who feel overwhelmed, disconnected from themselves, or stuck in patterns that no longer serve them.

My work is grounded in the belief that healing happens through relationship — both the therapeutic relationship and the relationship we develop with our own bodies, emotions, and inner experiences.

Alongside my counselling work, I work in physiotherapy, now specialising in pelvic health, which has deepened my appreciation of the body as a place where emotional experience is often held, expressed, and protected. For some clients this has naturally led me towards working more somatically, helping them notice and gently work with bodily sensations, impulses, and nervous system responses as part of therapy.

I am committed to ongoing training, including further study in somatic trauma therapy. My approach is collaborative, paced, and respectful of each client’s capacity — there is no pressure to go faster than feels safe.

I work with:
• anxiety and nervous system overwhelm
• relational and attachment difficulties
• loss, and navigating family dynamics
• shame, self-criticism, and feelings of “not being enough”
• the impact of illness, stress, and trauma on the body

Client Feedback

Clients often tell me they appreciate my warmth, thoughtfulness, and ability to listen deeply.

    Our first session

My first session with a new client is always a 50 minute session at a reduced rate of £30.00. As it is so important to me that you find the right therapist for you, we need some time for both of us to get a sense of who we both are and whether we are the right fit.

Our first 50 minute session also allows me to give you a little more detail of how I work and for you to ask any questions that you might have. There will be an assessment form to fill in so that I can get a sense of what it is you wish to bring to therapy. This will also allow me to get a sense of who you are, what it is you wish to achieve and what therapeutic approach might be right for you.

    What is Integrative Counselling?

If you have never had therapy before, you may be asking what this means. I have a tool kit of therapies which, amongst others, includes psychodynamic work (looking at how your childhood and early experiences may relate to the person you are today), Parts work humanistic therapy (the way that you look at the world and how this impacts your thoughts and actions), trauma-informed practice, and polyvagal theory (how your nervous system affects how safe, calm or tense your body feels).

Integrative Therapy is a flexible, holistic approach to counselling that combines different therapeutic models to suit each person’s unique needs. Rather than using a single method, it draws from a range of approaches to support emotional, psychological, and sometimes physical wellbeing, adapting as therapy progresses.

    Amongst others my toolkit includes:

    • Humanistic Approach: Focuses on your capacity for growth and self-understanding, offering empathy, acceptance, and a non-judgemental space.

    • Psychodynamic Work: Explores how past experiences and unconscious patterns may be influencing your current thoughts, feelings, and relationships.

    • Parts Work: A gentle way of understanding that we all have different “parts” within us (for example, a critical part, a protective part, or a wounded part). Therapy helps these parts communicate and work together more harmoniously.

    • Gestalt Therapy: Encourages awareness of your present-moment thoughts, feelings, and behaviours to help you understand yourself more fully.

    • Transactional Analysis: Looks at communication patterns and relationship dynamics, often through the lens of Parent, Adult, and Child ego states.

    • Somatic Work: Pays attention to bodily sensations and physical responses, recognising how emotions and experiences are held in the body.

Together, these approaches allow therapy to be tailored to you as a whole person, supporting insight, healing, and meaningful change.
